Art Music of the world

Compmusic project
European Research Council

Non-Western classical music. To better appreciate many world music traditions we need to change our learned listening attitudes and if we succeed we might discover new music experiences. This concert series offers this opportunity by presenting music from a variety of art-music traditions of the world, in particular: Hindustani (North India), Carnatic (South India), Turkish-makam (Turkey), Arab-Andalusian (Maghreb), and Beijing Opera (China). These are the traditions being studied in the CompMusic project of the MTG funded by ERC.
