Music production grants for New Creators

Within the frame of collaboration of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Phonos Foundation we promote the production of experimental musical works based on digital technologies. For this reason Phonos open a regular call for a musical projects by new creators.

The objective of this grant is to promote experimental musical productions (electroacoustic music, mixed instrumental music, electronic music, etc.) using technologies developed at the Music Technology Group.

General conditions

1. The grants will be given to individuals and are aimed tonew creators residents in Spain. This call specially encourages the participation of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra community.

2. The projects must include the use of any technology developed at the Music Technology Group of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (www.mtg.upf.edu/technologies) and/or be suitable to be performed by the Barcelona Laptop Orchestra (http://barcelonalaptoporchestra.blogspot.com)

3. The number of grants is max. 2 and the funding for each one is 3.000 €.

4. The awarded creator will receive assessment of the  Music technology Group and will be allowed to use the Universitat Pompeu Fabra equipments for the production of the work.

5. The works have to be produced in four months between January 1st and September 30th, 2014.

6. The award of the grant will take into account the following points:

- The interest and quality of the project as for the objectives, research interests and equipments of the Music Technology Group and the Phonos Foundation.

- The experience of the applicant in the fields of music and technology.

7. Phonos will stablish with the creator the process for producing the work, the facilities to be employed, and the final timescale for its completion.

8. Phonos reserves the right to organize the first perfomance of the works produced through these grants in the context of their activities, and Phonos will be mentioned as producers in the work credits.

9. Phonos will publish the results of the jury during January 2014 through this website.

10. The owners of the awarded projects will be notified individually and will receive the specific conditions of the scholarship. The applicants not selected can retrieve their project documentation in a date to be specified.

 

Application

Applications should be formalized until November 30th, 2013 (included).

 The application must include:

1. The aplication form

2. CV of the candidate

3. A summary of previous works, if any, related to the present call

4. A description of the project  as detailed as possible

5. An inventory of the human and technological resources required to carry out the project

6. A production schedule
